There are certain questions that we are asked time and time again. To make life simpler, we've compiled a list of the questions that have been asked most often and their answers.
Can you play pop/rock/jazz/ceilidh tunes? Yes we can. A traditional ceilidh band for instance won't consider Maroon5's latest; a rock band won't play ceilidh or jazz. But as professionally trained musicians, we can lend ourselves to most styles of music and are equally at home with ceilidh and pop tunes.
For the first dance, can you play our special tune? Yes. There is nothing more satisfying to us than playing a tune that means so much to you on your special occasion. Just give us advance warning and we'll learn your favourite.
Can you call the ceilidh dances? Yes we can. We've called dances for Americans, Canadians, Europeans, Australians, and even English! All thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had a great evening.
How long will it take to set up your equipment? On average we need around 55-60 minutes to set up our equipment and have a quick soundcheck. If access to the function room is difficult, for example a hefty trek from our vehicles or up narrow stairs, you can expect a longer set up time.
How long will you perform for? Our standard performance time is four hours, usually from 8.00pm to midnight although these times are flexible. A break of around 30 minutes will be taken, usually at the same time as the buffet, during which we can play a CD if you wish. If you want us to play past our contracted time/length you will be asked for an additional fee.
Will you play past midnight? We will play after midnight if you wish, but in our experience we've found that there is usually a significant drop in interest after midnight, especially when there are children and older guests who need to leave.
How loud are you? Our volume is always at your discretion. However it can be difficult to balance the dynamic required for a good performance against requests for very low volume; remember - drums have no volume control.
Do you play requests? Yes - if it's something we know and have rehearsed before. We're not prepared to "fling something together" at the last moment as this will inevitably lead to disappointment.
Can we buy the band a drink? Sure. It can get very hot on stage so a drink would be most appreciated, although we obviously cannot drink alcohol while performing.
What is the band dress code? We dress in a smart, casual manner. It can get very hot on stage so ties are unusual, however if you have a particular requirement please let us know.
Can we see you play before booking? We have a demo CD and all the tracks can be heard online on this web site under samples. When possible (and with the prior agreement of our clients) we can arrange for you to discreetly view us at an actual function.
